It Takes A Woman

A woman this morning climbed the 30 foot pole outside the South Carolina State  House and took down the Confederate Flag  that has been the source of much controversy of late. With the recent assassination of the Charleston 9 by an avowed racist who has had many images circulating the news and internet with that same confederate flag, it is not very surprising that an act of civil disobedience namely taking down the flag was done. In the spirit of Rosa Parks and others, sometimes you just have to take action. Even the president said we have had enough “conversations about race.”

 

 

President of the United States Eulogizes The Honorable Rev. Clementa Pinkney

The President of the United States, Barack Obama, in a most historic moment, provides the Eulogy for the Honorable, Rev Clementa Pinkney. Pastor of The historic Mother Emanuel AME Church who was assassinated after Wednesday night bible study at the church with 8 of his church members by Dylan Roof, an avowed racist who in his own words “wanted to start a race war”.  His words and his speech as he eulogized Rev Pinkney have been a long time in coming and so needed to be said.

William Bill Chumley – The Evil That Lurks Within The Hearts of Men

If you have ever in your life resided in the state of South Carolina for any length of time, the comments made by Mr. Chumley, who is a Republican representative in to the State of South Carolina will not be all that shocking or surprising.  His comments are representative of his constituents. All too often in that state the mindset which he gave voice to during his interview holds sway and is woven into the way of life for all to many people.

In the case of Mr. Chumley, he is not as Mr. Roof (the murderer of 9 blacks in a church this past week), a high school drop out and ne’er do well or loner as the main stream media have put out. Mr. Chumley is a teacher, a farmer and landscaper as well as a Deacon in his church. A fine upstanding gentleman who is also a member of the Sons of The Confederate Veterans. A positive member of society yes? Representing the 35th District in South Carolina which includes parts of Spartanburg and Greenville.

With thoughts so utterly heinous and hey he doesn’t look like a crazed, deranged race-hater….

Paul Thurmond – A New Hope

 

Some of you young’ns won’t recognize the name Thurmond in the context of South Carolina. Those who know their history and have a political bent will know Exactly where that name hails from. Strom Thurmond served as senator from South Carolina until he was 100 years old. He was an avowed segregationist and pulled no punches on what he believed in with regards to race in this country.  Noted for being one of the more famous  “”Dixiecrats” known for his marathon filibuster against the Civil Rights Act in 1957 which lasted more than 24 hours. After the speech made by his son which was  arguably a form of karma made manifest. You have to realize listening to the responses to the concept of removing the flag is not the true problem that this country at this time is beset with. It is the RACISM it always has been  that is what is behind the functioning of this country. Now how to fix it…..that is the question.Keep this in mind…
